Beautiful paintings
of ocean life adorn Boston sidewalks.
July 2005 - Sidewalk
Sam and the Mayors Youth/Arts Corps created twenty giant artworks
for the New England Aquarium as part of the annual Boston PrideWalk
program. "There are fish all over the city," says Sidewalk
Sam. "It is only fitting for a seacoast city to welcome visitors
with an ocean theme. The paintings were a lot of fun to create and
the partnership with such a wonderful institution as the Aquarium
was a unique opportunity."
Each painting
portrays a sea creature that reflects the many conservation, educational
and exhibit programs the Aquarium offers to the public. A special
emphasis ties in with the new IMAX Theater presentation of "Sharks
3D" at the Aquarium this summer. The artworks will be maintained
on the sidewalks throughout the summer season.
