Each New Year’s Eve to help celebrate the dawning of a new year, Boston hosts First Night, a citywide celebration of arts and expression. This year Sidewalk Sam depicted two large-scale reproductions of works by Henri Matisse. Pedestrians, at both locations, were invited to write messages of hope for 2007 showing both an appreciation for art and a love of their city.
